History of the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles

The consulate was established by President Roosevelt on January 18, 1942, during World War II when Manila was occupied by Japanese forces and diplomatic relations were interrupted. The first consul general was Carlos Romeo who also served as Secretary of Foreign Affairs from 1946-1953 and Vice President of the Philippines from 1953-1957.

How to Get a Visa

To get a visa, you must go through the following steps:

  1. Fill out an application form online or download one from our website;
  2. Submit your completed application form at the Consulate General;
  3. Pay the consular fee;
  4. Wait for approval via email before coming back to pick up your passport with visa attached after 2-3 weeks.
  5. Bring your original documents such as birth certificate, marriage contract or divorce decree, school records, employment letter from company with company stamp and seal, police clearance from home country signed by appropriate authority, bank statement from past 6 months showing sufficient funds to cover expenses in the Philippines
