The Consulate of Peru in Paterson, NJ is a consulate of the Republic of Peru. The Consulate promotes and protects the interests of Peruvian citizens abroad, provides consular services to them and facilitates trade relations between the two countries. It also handles matters related to international protection, labor migration and human rights.

Mission

The mission of the Consulate is to provide assistance to Peruvian nationals residing in or traveling through its jurisdiction by providing them with information on their rights and obligations under Peruvian law, as well as helping them obtain documents issued by the Government ministries and authorities back in Peru. The Consulate also helps foreign individuals deal with any cases involving a Peruvian national, such as crimes committed against a Peruvian citizen abroad, obtaining legal advice on issues related to their stay in the country.

Services

The following services are offered:

  • Preparing and issuing visas to foreign nationals;
  • Issuing Certificates of Loss or Discharge from Military Service (Certificate de baa o liberation del service military) to Peruvian citizens;
  • Issuing passports and other travel documents;
  • Administering oaths for naturalization applicants.
