The Embassy of Chile to the United States promotes human rights and democracy and has long been a valued partner of the United States. In the early 1990s, Chile went through a transition from a military regime to a democratic one. The U.S. was a key supporter of the rebirth of democracy in Chile, and it continues to consult with the country on many issues. The United Nations is the most important international organization supporting human rights in Chile, and the Embassy plays a pivotal role in this process.

The Embassy of Chile to the United States is the most important diplomatic representation between Chile and the U.S. The Embassy works on numerous international issues, such as trade and investment. The two countries are members of the United Nations and of the Organization of American States. Their work together on the international stage is often focused on improving security, fostering economic ties, and enhancing cultural exchange. The two countries also maintain close relations as members of the Pacific Alliance, Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, and the European Union.

Represent the interests of Chile and its nationals in the U.S. and promote greater integration and cooperation with its authorities and institutions, in order to contribute to the economic, scientific-technological, political and social development of Chile.

In this sense, it strengthens consultations and collaboration mechanisms that contribute to the development of relations in the areas of human rights, promotion of democracy, free trade, education, scientific and technological innovation, environment, energy, defense, anti-corruption, and hemispheric cooperation, along with contact and work with the Administration, federal agencies, states, Congress, NGOs, think tanks and relevant institutions of civil society. It also promotes and coordinates visits by public and private sector officials and personalities in all areas of national affairs.
